Anna Mae Martin Jones, 80, of Mease Lane in Hayesville, N.C., joined her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016.
Ann was born on April 19, 1936, in Union County, Ga., to Carl Stokely and Madie Mae Mease Martin. She worked in the textile industry and was a homemaker who loved nothing more than creating an inviting home for family and friends. A true “mountain granny,” Ann loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who visited each Sunday for dinner in what she affectionately referred to as “Hootie Hollar.” Ann was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and spent each day in His Word.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life Willie Andrew Jones; brothers Zeb Martin, Harold Martin, and Ray Martin; sisters Dorothy Lewis, Fay Martin, Mary Bragg and Ruth Daniels; and daughters-in-law Joey Jones and Wanda Jones.
She is survived by children Diann Buckner and husband Joe, of Hayesville, Debra Burch and husband Eddie, of Hayesville, Theresa Waldroup and husband Dean, of Young Harris, Ga., Danny Jones and wife Bobbie, of Hayesville, and Kim Jones, of Hayesville; brothers Stokely Martin and R.L. Martin, both of Blairsville; sister Henrietta Ledford, of Hayesville; grandchildren Joey Buckner, Jerry “Dustan” Buckner and wife Amy, Jason Buckner and wife Kim, Jeremy “Moe” Buckner and wife Fonda, Joshua Jones and wife Amber, Matthew Waldroup and wife LeAnn, Shawnda Smith and husband Joshua “Tennessee”, Daniel Jones and wife Molly, Rebecca Jones, Nick Jones, Kasey Combs, Tori Combs and Abby Combs; great-grandchildren Morgan Waldroup, Bryce Buckner, Jackson Lance, Jocelin Buckner, Taylor Buckner, Emma Buckner, Anna Isabella (Izzie) Buckner, Mason Buckner, Elias Buckner, Luke Buckner, Ava Smith, Ada Jones, Noah Smith, Gage Jones, William Waldroup, Danner Jones and Max Jones; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends, all of whom she adored.
Honoring their grandmother as pallbearers will be Joey Buckner, Dustan Buckner, Jason Buckner, Moe Buckner, Joshua Jones, Matthew Waldroup, Daniel Jones and Nick Jones.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at Meadow Grove Baptist Church in Hayesville, N.C.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, also at Meadow Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Arnold Brown and Rev. Israel Rogers officiating. Interment will be held at the church cemetery.
