Bobby Joe Clayton, age 58, of Murphy, NC passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Murphy Medical Center.
He was born in Gaston County, NC to Effie Marie Stiles Clayton of Murphy, NC and the late Harold B. Clayton. Bobby had worked for Baker Furniture as an assembler/inspector. He enjoyed fishing and firefighting with the Bellview Fire Department. Bobby was a family man, a loving husband and father.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his sister, Charlene Henderson.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sandy Stalcup Clayton; two sons, Danny Clayton and Barry Clayton and his wife Kayla all of Murphy, NC.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Rev. Donald Coleman will officiate. Burial will be in the Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Mariano, Brian King, Johnathan King, Darrell Decker, Jason Stalcup, Lonnie Stalcup, Cody Golden and Bobby Blair. Honorary pallbearers will be the Bellview Fire Department and the Thursday fishing partners.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
