11/28/1928 - 01/13/2017

Marty Taylor, age 88, passed away on January 13, 2017 at Brasstown Manor in Hiawassee following a long illness. She was born on December 5, 1928 in West Palm Beach, Florida, to Morey Nantz and Ferol Blanche Dunn. She graduated from West Palm Beach High School, and was in the first women's graduating class of the University of Florida with a degree in education.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Colonel Wentworth H. Taylor, who is interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC, and step-daughter Sally Donovan.

She is survived by son, William Christopher Swett and daughter-in-law, Amanda Swett of Hiawassee, son Edward Paul Swett of St. Cloud, Florida, step-daughter Elaine Allen of Houston, Texas, and Sally's children Shannon and Shane Donovan.

Marty loved to talk about her time at University of Florida and wore a "gator" bracelet to show her school pride. She taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade before retiring after seven years to raise a family. Later in life she was a volunteer with her public library in Suntree, Florida and worked as a senior volunteer at the Patrick Air Force Base hospital. She loved her dogs, went on long walks with them daily, and enjoyed visits with her son and daughter-in-law's "grand dogs". She was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star, passing 69 years of membership in June 2016. She moved to Brasstown Manor in Hiawassee in 2003 to be close to her eldest son, and remained there until her passing. She will be interred with her husband in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery.
