Marylyn "Gingy" Jones Rogers, age 86, of Hayesville, NC passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at Murphy Medical Center Nursing Home.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, NC and the daughter of the late Fred R. and Lessie Sellers Jones. Marylyn graduated from Hayesville High School in 1948 and Young Harris College and Western Carolina University. She retired as a school teacher at Hayesville Elementary School after 25 years of service. Marylyn had also worked for the department of social services as a case worker for seven years. She was a member of the Truett Memorial Baptist Church. Marylyn enjoyed playing the piano.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harve Moore Jr. in 1990; and her son, Steven Brent Moore in 2002.
She is survived by her second husband, Harry Rogers; grandchildren, Sabrina Slaton and husband Joe, Eric Moore and wife Ashlee and Lisa Price Moore; and great-grandchildren, Alayna Moore, Brentlee Moore, Adilynn Moore and Madelyn Slaton.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville. Rev. Johnny Foster will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Forest United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Rogers, David Rogers, Michael Rogers, Doug Flanagan, Larry Sellers, Jackie Sellers and Stephen "Doc" Sellers.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM, Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Broyhill Baptist Children's Home, 111 Sneed Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
