James "Jay" Rathbone, age 69, of Marble, NC passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at his residence.
He was a native of Macon County, NC and the son of the late Estes and Thelma Pendergrass Rathbone. Jay was a diesel mechanic for P and R Farms. He enjoyed refurbishing old Volkswagen engines. Jay was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Peachtree Community.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Rathbone; son, James "Tony" Rathbone; daughters, Janelle Stockton and Kara Foster; and his extended family.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, March 16, 2016 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. President Ron Moore and Mike Crubaugh. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Christopher Greene, Logan Whitener, David Patton, Greggory Prince, Jake Garrison, Eric Martin and Eric Dockery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
