Obituary for Betty Jeanne Robertson

Betty Jeanne Robertson of Murphy, and Lakeland, Fla., passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2017, in Tampa, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leona and Clifford Elliott, and in-laws, Rhoda and Ted Robertson.

She was the loving wife of Morgan Robertson for 60 years; children, Lynn Jordan and Greg Robertson (spouseLaura); grandchildren – Morgan Marble, Blake Jordan (spouse, Sammy Lynn), Aaron Tisdale, Chase and Bryce Robertson; great-grandchildren Cutter and Kaiya Gates, Braxton and Braelynn Jordan and Kynzi Tisdale; sisters – Anne Cunningham (spouse, Max Cunningham) and Janet Bandy (spouse – Hugh Bandy); brothers – Eddie, Ray (spouse, Brenda) and Sam Elliott; and many loving nieces, nephews. Also, longtime dear friends Bob and Alice Bourn and Greta Parker.

Jeanne was born May 16, 1934 in Murphy. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Greenville College in Greenville, Ill., and a master’s degree in library science at the University of Michigan.

She was employed by the Carmen-Ainsworth School District in Flint, Mich., for 30 years.

Jeanne’s faith in God was utmost in her life, and she was active in Westwood Heights Free Methodist Church in Flint, Mich.; Murphy Free Methodist Church in Murphy; and Light and Life Free Methodist Church in Lakeland, Fla.

In retirement, Jeanne was an avid reader, golfer and amateur genealogist.

Jeanne found great joy in cooking for family and friends. Family favorites included her pecan pie, lasagna and potato salad.

Jeanne was dearly loved by family and friends, and will be sorely missed.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Murphy Free Methodist Church in Murphy, followed by burial for family only at Sunset Cemetery.
