Rosy Mae Hayes, age 85 of Marble, NC passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at her residence.
Rosy was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC. She was a daughter of the late Wade and Abbie Dockery Ashe. Rosy loved cooking, crocheting and reading the Bible. She was a member of Grape Creek Baptist Church but attended Hiwassee Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents Rosy was the wife of the late Raymond Hayes, Jr. She was also preceded in death by two infant babies; and her brothers, Clinton, Willard and Ellis Ashe.
Surviving are her sons, Allen Hayes and wife Teresa of Marble, NC, David Hayes and wife Vickey of the Hiwassee Dam community, and Eddie Hayes and wife Shelby of the home; daughters, Carolyn McCray and husband Ray of Hayesville, NC, Betty Hughes of the Peachtree community and Sharon Hayes and Robert Tipton of Morganton, GA; sisters, Nettie Rhinhart of Whitter, NC, Ellen Gates of Sylva, NC and Mary Dillard of Sylva; ten grandchildren, Michael Barnett, Shawn Ducre, Jason Hayes, Tara Casborn, Stephanie Holder, Jamie Hughes, Courtney Petrilak, Tyler Hughes, Kimberly Harris and Abby Hayes; two great-grandsons, Lake Holder and Tipton Holder; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Dr. Eddis Dockery will officiate. Burial will be in Hiawassee Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Hayes, Jerry Townson, Randall Young, Charles Young, Michael Barnett and Shawn Ducre. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Ferguson, Doug Sneed, Robert Tipton and Tony Crisp.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM Sunday at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
