Obituary for Bruce Hogsed

Bruce Hogsed, age 76 of Warne, NC passed away Monday, May 29, 2017 at Clay County Care Center.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, NC. Bruce was the son of the late Enoch Lyle and Ethel Byers Hogsed. He loved to hunt and was the owner and operator of Hogsed Sportswear in Warne. Bruce drove a tractor trailer for many years. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and a US Army veteran.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Scott Hogsed, one brother, Carl Hogsed and one sister, Peggy Levi.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Ruth Cook Hogsed; four sons, Ivan Hogsed, Jack Hogsed and wife Bobbie, Sam Hogsed and wife Shannon and Eric Hogsed and wife Alisha; one brother Rev. Jimmy Hogsed and wife Wilma of Warne, NC, 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Warne, NC. Rev. Jimmy Rogers, Rev. Johnny Foster and Rev. Jimmy Hogsed will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73 and American Legion Post #532 of Hayesville and V.F.W. Post #6812. Pallbearers will be Mark Ritz, Darren McClure, Dewayne Ledford, Matt Brunson, Merlin Ledford and Teddy Cook. Honorary pallbearers will be Tripp Davis, Ray Cook, Mike McClure, Jack Matheson, Freddie Cook, David Ledford and Hugh Pittman.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Warne, NC.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Scott Hogsed Youth Day, 5100 Old Hwy 64, Warne, NC 28909.
