Wesley Lawrence Griffiths, 80, entered into his eternal rest with his precious Lord Jesus on July 1, 2017.
A native of Shamokin, PA, he lived in Andrews since 2000. He was a 20-year employee of Weyerchaeuser Paper, and retired truck driver. Wes had a deep passion for running, physical fitness and the Lord. He was graciously brought to faith in Christ Jesus at the age of 35, and for the rest of his life, he would exemplify the words of John Newton (author of Amazing Grace), "...I remember two things...that I am a great sinner, and that Christ is a great Saviour."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Florence Snyder Griffiths, and seven brothers, Charles, Edwin, William, Robert, Donald, "Jack", Melvin, and his son, Wesley William.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife and best friend of 42 years, Linda, a sister, Doretta Herr (Ron) of Danville, PA, and his children, Scott, Christopher, Lori-Ann, Neil, Brian and Sharon. Surviving grandchildren are Jennifer Gutekunst, Kristie and Danielle Garancosky, Nicky Griffiths (Julissa), Amanda Palmer (Jeff), Tyler Griffiths, Wesley Griffiths (Victoria), Joshua and Tre Griffiths, Shane Robb, Trevor, Brandon, Amanda and Addison Strausser. At the time of his death, he had eight great-grandchildren. He will, also, be sorely missed by the many that loved, prayed and cared for him.
"Mr. Wes" was a strong and vocal support of the Andrews community, and a great encourager for youth and adults to always do their best, but never forget to follow Christ fully.
He was a member of Christ Community Church, Andrews.
A local memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 beginning at 11 am in the Townson-Rose Chapel, Andrews. A second memorial service and interment will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Salem Bible Church in Macungie, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Christ Community Church, PO Box 178, Andrews, NC 28901 or the Pregnancy and Parenting Center, PO Box 866, Andrews, NC 28901 or the local Good News Club @CEF of NC Far Western Mountains Chapter, PO Box 1527, Murphy, NC 28906.
