Roger Keith Miller age 85, of Brasstown, NC passed away Thursday, July 13, 2017 at his residence.
He was born in Towns County, GA but was a lifelong resident of Clay County. Roger was the son of the late Charles Russell and Eula Vaughn Reece Miller. He had a farm and enjoyed farming and gardening. Roger owned and operated the Tri-County Implement store in Hayesville and was owner and operator of Miller Well Drilling for many years. He was a US Air Force veteran. Roger was a member of the Pine Log Baptist Church. His greatest enjoyment was pickin' his guitar and singing.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by first wife, Katie Miller; one brother, Richard Miller and one sister, Evelyn Goforth.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Owens Miller; step-son, John Trevor Penland; step-daughter, Stacie Moose; brothers, Charles Miller, Leonard Miller, BN Lygh, Patt Miller and Gene Miller; sister, Joyce Ware; four step-granddaughters; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Rev. Kevin Miller and Rev. Buddy Pittman will officiate. Music will be provided by the Jimmy Wilson Family, Bill England and Buddy Pitman. The pianist will be Lamar Chastain. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chris Penland, Jason Penley, Curry Penland, Derrick Penland and Cameron Miller.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM, Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pine Log Baptist Church, 65 Pine Log Church Road, Brasstown, NC 28902.
