The heavens gained another angel on October 1st 2017. Robert Lawayne Smith, better known as Bubba by his family and friends, took the Lord's hand as he lost his battle with a heart that couldn't keep up. You see...Bubba never met a stranger. He was a friend to everyone he met and continuously brought laughter to people's lives with his jokes and endless storytelling. He was generous, kind, and loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with his family.
Bubba was born in Mineral Wells, Texas on December 21, 1955; but made his home in Shooting Creek area of Hayesville. He is remembered by his wife and best friend of 20 years, Candice Penland Smith, and was a wonderful father to his daughters, Dianna Lord, Tiffany Salter, and Dani Moody. His legacy will be carried on by his grandchildren: Cline Moody, Taylor Cuevas, Gwen Moody, James Cuevas, Adrianna Lord, Aurora Lord, and Corban Lord. He is also remembered by his brothers and his sissy, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Bubba never met a stranger and his kindness was carried through the country as he made his living being an over-the-road truck driver. If you have any fond memories or funny stories of Bubba that you would like to share, please feel free to join us as we celebrate his life at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville on Friday October 6th 2017. The public viewing begins at noon with the service immediately following at 2 p.m. Pastor Shell Osbon will officiate.
