Marcus Sparks, age 82, of Topton, NC passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017.
He was a native of Letcher County, KY and the son of the late Bert and Melda Gent Sparks. Marcus graduated from Southeast Institute of Biblical Studies in 1977 and he was the Minister of the Church of Christ in Andrews, NC from 1977-2017. Marcus was a US Army veteran. He loved to farm and ride his tractor. He was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Villa Sparks; one son, Douglas Eugene Sparks and wife Julie of Myrtle Beach, SC; daughters, Marquita Hampton and husband Doug of Nantahala, NC and Delores King and husband Mel of Pigeon Forge, TN; one sister, Wavel Mullins and husband John of Union, KY; one brother, Les Combs of Covington, KY; grandchildren, Lacey West and husband Kurtis of Nantahala, NC, Aaron Hampton of Nantahala, NC, Caleb White of Nantahala, NC, Hannah Johnston and husband Dylan of Sylva, NC, Zachery Jones of Canton, NC; great-grandchildren, Makayla West and Damien West both of Nantahala, NC.
A Memorial service will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Church of Christ in Andrews, NC. Minister Jim Sexton will officiate. A Military Service will proceed after the service.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM at the Church of Christ in Andrews, NC.
