Obituary for Jack Logan Parrish

Jack Logan Parrish, age 90, of Hayesville, North Carolina, formerly of Stone Mountain, Georgia, passed away January 8, 2018. He was born October 25, 1927 in Flint, Michigan to Orben and Bessie Logan Parrish. He graduated from Flint Central High. After serving in the Army Reserve, he attended junior college at the University of Illinois. Jack moved to Atlanta at age 21. He worked in sales first at Rich's, then at Sears while earning his business degree from Georgia State. A lifelong music lover, he sang in Atlanta Opera Arts. It was there that he met his wife, Jean Jarrell. They were married in 1956. He enjoyed his 30-year career at DeKalb Office Equipment, where he started in sales in 1954 and became co-owner in 1971. He was active in his daughters' Girl Scout troop, Decatur Rotary Club, First Christian Church of Decatur, and Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church in Stone Mountain. In 1994, he and Jean moved to Hayesville, NC. He gardened, volunteered as a woodworking instructor and with Friends of the Library, sang in local choirs, and was an active member of Hayesville First United Methodist Church. He was faithfully devoted to Jean and their family. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jean; their daughters, Patty Parrish Chaney (Bill), and Paula Parrish Bosarge (David); grandchildren Daniel, Michael, and Catherine Chaney; and first great-grandchild, Logan Gray Chaney.

Visitation will be from 2-3 PM on Saturday January 13, 2018 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville.

A funeral service will be held at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville on Saturday January 13, 2018 at 3 PM. Rev. Kirk Hatherly will officiate.
