Helene Marjorie Fielding Basse, age 91, of Brasstown, NC passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 at her residence.
She was a native of Lucas County, OH and the daughter of the late William Herbert and Mildred Thom Fielding. Helene was a homemaker. She was an accomplished artist and loved the Arts. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening. Helene had a great sense of humor. She was very involved politically as a Republican in Delaware County. Helene was also a business owner with her husband in Atlantic Beach, Florida.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Nelson Basse; brother, William Fielding; and one grandchild, Jaime Davis.
She is survived by one son, Mark Basse and wife Susan of Carmel Valley, CA; three daughters, Susan Davis of Knoxville, TN, Kimberley Strate of Neptune Beach, FL and Jennifer Gray and husband Michael of Brasstown, NC; one sister, Lois Farwell of Smithville, TN; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Strate, Matthew Strate, Meghan Davis, Patrick Gray, Sara Basse, Christopher Ryan and Joshua Gray; and one great-grandchild, Goldie Green Strate.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Eulogies will be given by family and friends. Burial will be in the Maggie's Chapel Cemetery in Brasstown, NC. Pallbearers will be Nicholas Strate, Matthew Strate, Christopher Ryan, Joshua Gray, Patrick Gray and Mark Basse.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy, NC.
