Geneva Totherow Hayth, age 83, of Murphy, NC passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 at her residence.
She was a native of Cherokee County, NC and the daughter of the late John Wesley and Bertha Elizabeth Burns Totherow. She had worked as a coffee room hostess at the Green Briar Clinic (Diagnostic Lab) in West Virginia. Geneva was a loving wife for over 40 years. She enjoyed reading and puzzle books.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Hayth Jr.; brothers, J.D. Totherow, M.L. Totherow and Talmadge Totherow; sisters, Willa Nell Laney, Blanche Milsaps and Nancy Stiles.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Chester Hayth of New Orleans, LA and Marion Elizabeth Gailey of Columbia, SC; brother, Dempsey Totherow of Murphy; sister, Helen Farner of Murphy; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Maltby Baptist Church in Marble. Rev. Ted Hughes will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Popular, Jenny Rhodes, Dalton Hughes, Tim Taylor, Emment Thompson and Charlie Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Rhuel Hughes, Mike Totherow, Jimmy Totherow and Mark Laney.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM, Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Maltby Baptist Church.
