Ernest Wilcox, age 90 of the Hiwassee Dam community passed away Friday, June 15, 2018 at the Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Hospice.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC and the son of the late William Noah and Ethel Lou McBrayer Wilcox. He was a US Army WWII veteran. Ernest was a repairman in the Tennessee Copper Mines. He was an avid sportsman. Ernest loved working, fishing and hunting the creeks, lakes and mountains of WNC. He was a member of Reid's Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Jenny Wilcox; four brothers, Ralph, Lloyd, Guinn and Dallas Wilcox and two sisters, Grace and Reba.
He is survived by his wife, Oslee Watkins Wilcox; two sons, Randall Wilcox and wife Melinda of Acworth, GA and Ronald Wilcox of the Hiwassee Dam community; sisters, Edna Stiles of Marble, Mona Keenum and Carolyn Henry and husband, Bob both of the Hiwassee Dam community and Helen Martin and husband, Arnold of Canton, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 4 pm, Sunday, June 17, 2018 at the Reid's Chapel United Methodist Church. Rev. Mark Handy will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phil Wilcox, Gerald Wilcox, Larry Cheek, Mitchell Loudermilk, Rick Stiles and Derek Cheek. Honorary pallbearer will be nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm, Sunday, June 17, 2018 at the Reid's Chapel United Methodist Church.
