Obituary for Bernard Wojtasik

   Bernard "Bernie" H. Wojtasik, age 75, of Blairsville, GA and Palm Harbor, FL, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018.

He was a native of Cook County, IL, and was the son of Jean Pudelek Wojtasik of Florida and the late Bernard Wojtasik. Bernie was employed with the Pinelles County Florida Sherrif's Department earning the rank of Captain. He was a US Army veteran serving as a decorated Corbra helicopter pilot in Vietnam receiving the Purple Heart and later commanding a Fixed Wing Army Aircraft unit in Desert Storm. He was also later employed with the St. Pete/Clearwater Florida Airport. Bernie enjoyed fishing, camping, boating and driving fast trucks.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Wojtasik; one son, John Paul Wojtasik and wife Christi of Altamonte Springs, FL; one daughter, Margaret Myers and husband Joseph of Sunrise, FL; one brother, Gary Wojtasik of Seminole, FL; two sisters, Bonnie Wojtasik of Seminole, FL and Nora Obrecht of Kansas City, KS; and four grandchildren, Samantha, Jake, Sean and Luke.

Funeral services will be held at 7 pm, Monday July 30, 2018 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Chris Rumfelt will officiate. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96, D.A.V. Chapter #73, American Legion Post #532 of Hayesville and VFW Post #6812. Rev. Chris Rumfelt will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm, Monday July 30, 2018 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Bernie Wojtasik to the First Free Will Baptist Church, 259 Tusquittee Street, Hayesville, NC 28904.
