Obituary for Ethel Crisp

Ethel Crisp, age 95, of Murphy, NC passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 at her home.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC and the daughter of the late Lloyd and Ida Patterson Martin. Ethel was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Ethel enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and preserving the fruits of her labor; she also enjoyed her flower garden, she grew anything from regular flowers to roses and often would dig and grow wild wood flowers. She loved her cows. Ethel was a member of the New Martins Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Eugene Crisp and second husband, Glen William Crisp; two grandchildren, Roddie Coffey and Brandus Crisp; two great-grandchildren, Jacquelin Crisp and Desiree Mull; one brother, George Lex Martin; seven sisters, Annie Carringer, Helen Cearley, Lora Bell Crisp, Iva Lou McCullough, Arvil Shelton, Otis Crowe and Arlene Hardman; and son-in-law, Kenneth Coffey.

She is survived by two sons, Alvin Crisp and wife Donna of Douglasville, GA and Ben Crisp and wife Jackie of Hayesville, NC; four daughters, Charlotte Ball of Murphy, NC, Virginia Coffey of Marble, NC, Thelma Jean Mull and her significant other Ray Ledford of Hayesville, NC and Brenda Everett and husband Mac of Blairsville, GA; three brothers, Dewy Martin, J.D. Martin and Howard Martin; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm, Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the New Martins Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Aud Brown and Rev. Hoyt Brown will officiate. Tammy Womack and Ben Crisp will also speak. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Stanley Crisp, Doug Crisp, Travis Crisp, Shon Crisp, Lucas Mull, Lonnie Randall and Justin Ward.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 1 pm, Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the New Martins Creek Baptist Church.
