Mary Lou Rose Kirkland, age 73, of Walhalla, SC and formerly of Murphy, NC passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at her residence.
She was a native of Cherokee County, NC and the daughter of the late John Harve and Lillie Van Graham Rose. Mary was a member of the Violet Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clifford Rose, Hobart Rose, Beecher Rose, Wayne Rose and Lloyd Rose; and sisters, Gladys Taylor, Edna Bolt, Ellie Morrow, Mary Odessa and Mattie Morrow.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin Delano Kirkland; one son, Michael Kirkland and wife Kristina; one daughter, Paula Kirkland; two sisters, Ruby Morrow and Margaret Cunningham; grandchildren, Travis Kirkland and wife Marianne and Josh Kirkland and wife Tabby; one great-granddaughter, Milah Kirkland; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Rev. Jerry Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in the Bear Paw Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Travis Kirkland, Joshua Kirkland, Luke Morrow, Stan Morrow, Travis Simpson and Kyle Stancil.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
