Steve Dendy age 70, passed away in Woodstock GA from complications of surgery and major strokes. Steve was born in Rhode Island and grew up a Navy brat then settled down with his parents in Young Harris GA in 1961. He was a graduate of Towns County High school and graduated from North GA Tech with a degree in electronics. He worked as a product engineer at Clifton Percision until 1975. At that time he joined and served in the United States Navy where he received an award for outstanding recruit as well as multiple awards throughout his career.
Steve was the son of Margaret Byrd Dendy and the late Harvey Dendy. He is also survived by his wife Judy Canup who he met and married in 1975. They have two beautiful children: daughter, Laura Brady from a previous marriage and a son, Chip Dendy by his present wife. Also surviving are two brothers, David Dendy of Blairsville and Brian Dendy of Young Harris; one sister, Diane Smith of Young Harris; four grandchildren, Anthony Owens, Jessica Gordy, Christian Waters and Rebecca Ramsey and six great grandchildren, Ava Gordy, Malia Gordy, Christian Jones, Ella Ramsey, Harley Ramsey and Paige Ramsey.
After military service Steve took a job as Field Service Engineer with Technicare working on high tech hospital equipment. Within the company they nicknamed him the "can man" because when hospital equipment went down and no one else could fix or solve a problem, they called the Can Man. Steve considered this both an honor and a privilege. After that he worked for MCI for some years until retirement.
Steve loved working outside in his yard and garden. His specialty was raising strawberries and tomatoes. He raised more than enough just so he could give them away to friends, doctors and the pharmacy. He would even set up a roadside table with a sign saying "stop and take what you want". He had such a giving spirit and always went above and beyond, using his electronic gifts to help others.
