Obituary for Royce Wayne Brown

02/07/1941 - 06/13/2021

Royse Wayne Brown, 80, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on June 13, 2021 in Knoxville, TN. He was surrounded by his family during his final hours. He was a Marine Corps Vet, a die hard Patriot, and One Proud Texan. Royse was a man of business. He began his career with International Harvester as a parts salesman, then quickly promoted to over-the-road sales representative. After several years, he found himself being promoted yet again to Branch Manager in El Paso, TX. He took this experience and applied it in everyday life. Royse was larger than life and a force to be reckoned with. His sense of humor was boisterous at times, ribald and raunchy. Combined with a quick wit his presence filled the room. His generosity was legendary. Royse loved Johnny Cash, enchiladas, the Dallas Cowboys, especially during the Tom Landry and Roger Staubach Era, dogs, movies, and water skiing. He had been a square dancer, and even called them with his booming bass voice.

Royse was born in Amarillo, TX to the late Clyde Major Brown and Lockie Mae Tedford. He was also preceded in death by his older brother, Leamon who was his whole world. Royse idolized his older brother after losing him to cancer at the tender age of 13. He never fully recovered. Royse also had an infant brother who died shortly after birth.

He is survived by his two daughters, Patricia "Patti" Diane Reid and Robin Renee Hogsed; four grandchildren, Joshua Reid and wife, Jasmin, Brandon Reid , Rachel Hogsed, and Robert Hogsed; three great grandchildren, Acelya and Joshua Ryan, Jr., and Daxton Hogsed; niece, Sandra Kay Wiswell; his first cousin and confidante, Bonnie Zora Morton, who at various times throughout Royse's life wore many hats. She was at times a mother, sister, advisor, cheerleader, guardian, defender, and go-to point person; the mother of his two daughters, Delores Cutshaw; and his most loyal, trustworthy, generous brother and best friend of over 40 years, Pete Birdwell.

Royse was an irreverent man who will be missed, but fondly remembered by many.

Celebration of his life-Memorial service will be announced at a future date.
