Obituary for Michael H. Davis I

12/20/1948 - 07/07/2021

Michael H. Davis I, 72, of Murphy, North Carolina, passed away on July 7, 2021 after a brief battle with liver cancer.

Michael was born to Vernon and Gladys Davis on December 20, 1948, in Murphy, North Carolina. After graduating high school, he went on to serve in the United States Armed Forces as a Medic in the Vietnam War. Upon returning home from the war, Michael met and married the love of his life, Pamela Davis, in 1972. They went on to have and raise five children: David, Susan, Michael, Tracy, and Courtney.

Michael was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he thought they deserved. This lead to him putting himself through nursing school by working multiple jobs and graduating in the mid-1980's. He went on to use the expertise he learned through the U.S. Army and through college, to become a Surgical First Assist, working many years at St. Elizabeth's in Youngstown, Ohio. His family meant more to him than anything in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of all of his children and grandchildren and always tried his best to support and protect them.

Michael was also a passionate motorcyclist, fisherman, and gardener. He could often be found on the boat, fixing his 1951 Harley Davidson Panhead, or working out in the garden. He also spent 30+ years serving his Lord and Savior through his servitude at Grace Church of the Nazarene.

Anyone who knew Michael knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. He also would help anyone around him that needed it, making sure all were taken care of. It is hard to put into words how extraordinary Michael truly was.

Michael was predeceased by both sets of his Grandparents, and his brother, Thomas Davis. He is survived by his parents, Vernon and Gladys Davis. His wife, Pamela Davis, his children; David Davis, Susan (Jason) Dan, Michael (Mindy) Davis, Tracy Davis, Courtney Davis, and his grandchildren; Knoah, Chloe, Cory, Ashley, Hanna, Nikolas, Lailah, and Delilah.
