Colleen Payne, 84, of Marble passed away in an Asheville hospital Monday, July 19, 2021. She was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County. Colleen had worked as an inspector in Clothing manufacturing. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was the daughter of the late Lester and Pauline Davis Johnson and the wife of the late Jack Stiles Payne. She was also preceded in death by a son, Carroll Payne, and two brothers, Jerry Johnson and Max Johnson.
Surviving is a granddaughter, Jennifer Eller; a great grandson, Brady Payne; a great-great grandson, Maverick Payne; a brother, Logan Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 22, 2021 in the Moss Cemetery with Rev. Kenny White officiating. Pallbearers will be James Hunt, Allen Crawford, Donnie Simmonds, Johnny Luther, Dean Stalcup, and Teddy Burch.
