Charles Layton Blue II (Chuck), age 63, of Murphy, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Chuck was a lifelong Christian, and he never wavered in his faith during his two-and-a-half-year battle. He put everything in God’s hands and is now home with Jesus.
Chuck was born July 8, 1960 in Sarasota, Florida to the late James and Carolyn Blue. He grew up in Sarasota and graduated from The Prew Academy in 1978. Chuck worked for Pine Shores Presbyterian Church in Sarasota for over twenty years before moving to Murphy, North Carolina in 2014. Chuck liked to be outdoors, and especially loved the mountains of North Carolina.
Chuck was a musician, and got much enjoyment from playing his drums. His greatest joy in life, however, was his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Chuck is survived by his wife Kim of Murphy, NC; daughter Stephanie (Josh) of Marble, NC; son James (Stephanie) of Parsons, TN; daughter Ashley (Mitchel) of Calico Rock, AR; son Nicholas (Chrissy) of Oak Park, IL; stepson Wyatt Nowling (Jaimie) of Murphy, NC; and his grandchildren Lilianne, William, and
Grady. He is also survived by his sisters Christy Blue of Sarasota, FL and Carole Menzel (Keith) of Chesapeake, VA.
A memorial service will be held in Sarasota, Florida at a later date.
