Charles Edward Beaver, age 85 of Murphy, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Charles was born on December 25, 1940 to the late James and Lillie Allen Beaver of Murphy. He was a native of Cherokee County, NC. Charles worked most of his life in the sawmill industry. He was a dad to all of his family. Charles enjoyed cracking walnuts, whittling, working in the garden and playing pranks. He also enjoyed attending family reunions, talking on the phone with his siblings and spending time with his grandchildren. Charles loved taking care of his family and watching racing. Proud that him and his grandson (Chipmunk) almost shared the same birthday - Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Adams Beaver of 46 years; his brothers, Howard Beaver and Hoyt Beaver (Obe); and his sisters, Margie Morrow and Juanita Bryson.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Dockery; his grandchildren, Jamey Dockery (Ashley), Hannah Dockery (Bailey Carpenter); his great grandsons, Zemery (Whistlepig) Dockery and Lexington (Chipmunk) Dockery; his brothers, Melvin Beaver (Shirley) and Austin Beaver; his sisters, Opal Chambers, Linda Sue Patterson; and several nieces and nephews survive.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with Rev. Freddy Maney and Rev. Calvin Murphy officiating. Burial will be at Unaka Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Doyle Chambers, Michael Thompson, Calvin Beaver, Stephen Beaver, Scott Beaver and Bailey Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamey Dockery and Jimmy Morrow.
The family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm on Friday, October 2, 2026 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
