On the morning of September 26, 2026, Ricky Ray McDonald, age 63, of Murphy North Carolina was called home to be with the Lord, peacefully while in his sleep.
Ricky was born to the parents, Harry and Louise McDonald of Murphy, North Carolina December 15 1962. He was a graduate of Murphy High School, with continued education in auto mechanics, welding, heating and cooling, and the electrical programs of Tri County Community College. Rick was an employee of OMC working in maintenance until their closing, and then Snap On until his retirement.
Ricky was a current member of Wilscott Baptist Church, and a believer. He would spend his early years coaching baseball for his younger brother’s team, later in life coaching his son’s teams as well. He was an outdoorsman, enjoying camping, fishing, and hunting, always spending time with his family and friends. Anyone fortunate to know him was always guaranteed a laugh. He was an avid hound’s man with a passion for Beagles and Bear dogs. Enjoyed fishing with his family and friends and never missing an opportunity to be close and make memories. Dirt track racing held a special place in his heart, allowing him to spend time with his brother, father, sons and countless lifelong friends.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Harry McDonald, and mother, Louise Laney McDonald.
Survived by his brother, Brian McDonald (Sharon); wife, Michelle Totherow Crawford; two sons, Blake McDonald ( Mary) and Brett McDonald (Amber); step daughters, Ashley (Chris), Brianna (Dennis), Lauren (Wade), and special cousin, Audrey Kephart Lequire; a special niece, Jenifer Green Davis; several grandchildren and family friends.
Funeral services will be held at 7 pm Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm – 7 pm prior to the services.
