With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of Larry Rufus Mashburn, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished friend, and honored veteran.
Larry was a man whose life was rooted in family, hard work, service, and the simple joys of the outdoors. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength to all who knew him, and his memory will be treasured forever.
Larry found great happiness in life’s quiet blessings. He loved hunting and fishing, where he felt most at peace and closest to nature. Whether on the water with a fishing pole in hand or outdoors enjoying God’s creation, those moments reflected the calm and steady spirit he carried throughout his life.
Larry was also a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served honorably as a Specialist Fifth Class. His service to his country was a reflection of the dedication, discipline, and strength that defined his character.
He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. Larry worked many years at the aluminum plant in Eatonton and also with Wellington Leisure Products. In addition, he proudly owned and operated his own business, Mashburn’s Fish, where his hardworking nature and entrepreneurial spirit shined.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Rowena Mashburn and Levi Mashburn; his loved ones, Jennifer Bratcher and Don Mashburn.
He leaves behind a legacy of love through his beloved wife, Sandra Mashburn.
He is also survived by his children: Tina Annette Hobbs and spouse Harry Hobbs; Larry James Mashburn; Selina Mashburn and spouse Kirk Tanner; Keenan Mashburn and spouse Kelli Mashburn; and Ryan Mashburn and spouse Kristina Mashburn.
Larry was a proud grandfather to Heather Shirley, Robert Shirley, Aaron Mashburn, Kaitlyn Mashburn, Luke Armistead, Riley Mashburn, Lily Armistead, Zack Mashburn, Abby Mashburn, Amelia Tanner, and Olivia Mashburn.
He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Natalie Shirley, Nathan Bratcher, and Harper Bratcher, who brought light and joy to his life.
Larry will be remembered for the love he gave so freely, the wisdom he shared, and the steady strength he offered to his family. Though our hearts are broken, we find peace in knowing his love remains with us always. His legacy lives on in every story told, every lesson remembered, and every life he touched.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
