Mary Estaleen Ashe Fleming, age 92 of Greenville, SC and previously of Murphy, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026.
Mary was born to the late Wade and Sarah Ann Harris Ashe in Cherokee County. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking. Mary also enjoyed spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She was unit commander of Disabled Veterans, DAV Aux Former State Officer of DAV Auxiliary and served on the selective DAV Board.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Fleming; her son, Jo Richard Fleming; and her brothers, William Ashe, Vernon Ashe and Ben Ashe.
Mary is survived by her sons, Doug Fleming, James "Jimmy" Fleming and Michael Richard Fleming; her daughters, Kathleen Brendle, Sarah Paris and Michelle Russell (Rusty); her brother, James "Roy" Ashe; her 14 grandchildren; and her 25 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with Pastor Tully Griggs and Pastor Jeff Graham officiating. Burial will be in Old Martins Creek Cemetery in Murphy. Pallbearers will be Mike Conner, Eric Moore, Robert Griggs, Michael Rogers and Terry Sosebee.
The family will receive friends from 6pm to 7pm on Monday, May 4, 2026 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
