It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved aunt and woman of virtue, Ruth Reece Beavers, age 87 of Murphy, NC, who passed away Sunday, May 3, 2026.
She was born in Clay County, NC to the late Caswell and Pearlie Carter Reece. Ruth retired from Levi Strauss with 32 years of service. She enjoyed being outdoors, especially gardening. Ruth loved quilting with her husband Harley. She was always welcoming and loving everyone that came into her house. Ruth was kindhearted and the sweetest lady. She was not a mother but a mother to all her nieces and nephews. Ruth was a member Old Fashioned Baptist Church.
As a wife she was adored, and she adored Harley in return. They enjoyed quilting together and both spent many years together as devoted gardeners, sharing all they cultivated with their many friends and family members. Her character is marked by strength, grace, and a deep devotion to her faith. Her life was a reflection of the values she held close, and even now, her memory speaks in every corner of our hearts and lives. Ruth spent her life bringing color and wonder to those around her. Known for her infectious smile and laughter, and her ability to make everyone feel special. Her unwavering support and dedication were a guiding light for her many neices and nephews, she was in the truest sense everyone's favorite aunt, not because she tried to be, but because she could not help it. She had a huge heart filled with love for all. As a sister, her love was profound, as a friend her illuminating spirit gathered the best of the best. We will look for the signs every day and will never stop loving you and remembering the life you shared...Lucky us!
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Beavers and one brother, Caswell Reece, Jr.
She is survived by her sister, Ruby Medlin (Bob) of Hickory, NC; and nieces and nephews.
