Obituary for William George Kieffer

William George Kieffer, “Bill” of Hayesville, NC passed away unexpectedly on August 14th, 2015.

Born on July 16th, 1941 in Sylvania, Ohio, he was the son of Laura Hotchkiss Kieffer and Marcus Harry Kieffer. He attended Burnham High School in Sylvania and went on to graduate from Case Institute of Technology in Cleveland, Ohio. At Case, he majored in Business and Math, played basketball and was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. Bill spent over 35 years in Sales, Management, and Business Ownership in the Printing Industry and retired in 1999.

After spending years in Atlanta, Bill and wife Peg moved full time to Hayesville, North Carolina in 2003. Always an active member of the community, Bill served with the United Way, the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the County Social Services Board. He was a valued member of the Hayesville United Methodist Church where he took on in many leadership roles.

Bill is predeceased by daughter, Heather Leigh, and sister in law, Sue Kieffer.

Bill is survived by his wife of 52 years Peg, their sons Marc, David, and Jim, and spouses LeAnne, Sarah, Jody, and his grandchildren, Willa, Rhys, Noel, Elloree, and Dex. His brothers, Lawrence and John, Lawrence’s wife Paula, nieces and nephews Chad, Derek, and Cindy, and his honorary son Robert, wife Nicola, and their sons, Jacob and Severin.

Bill was a very generous man, some of his favorite charities included, The Southern Poverty Law Center and The Smile Train.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to one of these charities or to The Hayesville United Methodist Church.

Services will be held Saturday, September 5th at the Hayesville United Methodist Church with visitation at 11am followed by the Memorial Service at noon. A Luncheon will be held after.
