"In Loving Memory" (Andrews) - Nova Jean Ensley West, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at her daughter Vickie Lovin's house in Greenville, SC while in hospice care after an extended illness.
A native of Cherokee County, she was a daughter of the late William McKinley Ensley and Effie Logan Ensley. In addition to her parents, Nova was preceded in death by her husband, Billy J. West, in 2021; two sisters, Mildred Woody and Doris Grogan; five brothers, Austin Ensley, Ronald Ensley, Melvin Ensley, Wilton Ensley and Vean Ensley.
Nova will always be remembered as a loving, selfless, and caring person. She was a member of the Valley River Baptist Church of Andrews. Nova and Billy moved from Andrews to Inman, SC in 2015 due to their declining health so they could be close to their children, and had been attending Liberty Baptist Church in Inman, SC. Nova loved to sing gospel songs and play rummy. She loved her family.
She is survived by three daughters, Phyllis Irons and her husband, Rusty "Dale" Irons of Easley, SC, Vickie Lovin and husband, Ron Trammel and Lisa Vaughan and her husband, David Vaughan both of Greenville, SC; two sons, Jeffrey west and wife, Vickie Adams West of Easley, SC and Stanley and wife, Lucille West of Inman, SC. She had five grandchildren, Bonnie Lesney, Caroline Vaughan Gross, Matthew West, Hadley West, Joseph "Darian" West; and six great grandchildren, Ben, Lilly, Harper, Jacob, Skylyn and Will.
Funeral services will be held at 12pm on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Valley River Baptist Church, 65 Balsam Lane, Andrews, NC 28901. Family will receive friends beginning at 11am at the church prior to the funeral service. Service will be officiated by the Reverend Roy Phillips and Dr. David Duncan of Liberty Baptist Church, Inman, SC. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronald and Ricky Trammel, David Vaughan, Matthew West, Ben Wallace and Will Gross.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Valley River Baptist Church cemetery fund at P.O. Box 1189, Andrews, NC 28901.
