Fred Byers, age 82, of Warne, NC passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019 in Braselton, GA.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, NC. Fred was the son on the late Charles Woodrow and Irene Byers Byers. He was a self-employed welder. Fred was a US Army veteran. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fred enjoyed football, NASCAR Racing and fishing.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Jean Taylor Byers; six brothers, Wayne Byers, Roy Lee Byers, Jack Byers, Monroe Byers, Claude D. Byers and infant brother, Benny Edward Byers; two sisters, Helen Scharringhausen and Betty Sue Hooper.
He is survived by three sons, Danny Byers of Wellington, FL, Benny Fred Byers of Belton, TX and Mike Byers of Warne, NC; one daughter, Sheryl Miller and husband Steve of Warne; two brothers, Lawrence and Thomas Byers both of Hayesville; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Hayesville. Rev. Chris Rumfelt, Rev. Johnny Foster and Rev. Billy Stiles will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm, Sunday, November 17, 2019 at the First Free Will Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Free Will Baptist Church, 259 Tusquittee Street, Hayesville, NC 28904.
