VISITATION AND FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT THE TOWNSON-ROSE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL OF MURPHY.

Gary "Pork Chop" McLain, age 71 of Murphy, NC passed away Saturday, August 1, 2020.

He was born in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Bernice and Rupert McLain and had resided in Murphy, NC.

Pork Chop held many different jobs with some being an underground driller, crane operator, truck driver and a boat motor mechanic. He was a US Army veteran.

Pork Chop loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and especially watching them play football. He loved fishing, being outdoors and riding his motorcycle.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his twin sister, Kathy Denny; two sisters, Shirley Passmore and Revia Dockery.

He is survived by two sisters, Alomia Mashburn and husband Steve, and Linda Thompson and husband Emitt; one brother, Larry McLain and wife Betty; two sons, Steven "Weasel" Clifford McLain and fiancé Trish Rudgers, and David "Littleman" Michael McLain; two daughters, Misty "Minnie" Dawn Cross and friend Carl Dockery, and Kristy "Chubby" McLain McTaggart and Bobby Elkins; eight grandchildren, Lucas Cross, Adrianna Cross, Ethan McLain, Dalton McLain, Slade McTaggart, Bailey McTaggart, Braylnn McLain and Malachi Farmer; and girlfriend, Dianne Davis.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm, Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Pastor Scott Roper and Pastor Hoyt Brown will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Slade McTaggart, Bailey McTaggart, Lucas Cross, Ethan McLain, Dalton McLain and David McLain. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam "Whitey" Sutton, James "Tiger" McLain, Jerry Dockery, Scott Beavers, Terry Haney and Randy Dockery.

The family will receive friends from 12 pm - 1 pm, Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy.
