Obituary for Monroe David Davenport

Monroe David Davenport, age 74 of Hayesville, NC passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, NC and the son of the late Verlin and Zelpha Ledford Davenport. Monroe loved to read his bible and listen to music. He loved to talk and be around his family. He had worked for the Mattress and Broom Mfg. for the blind in Charlottesville, Virginia. Monroe was a member of Mountain Faith Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Peggy Davenport, Magdalene Jones and Mary Jo Davenport.

He is survived by three brothers, Daniel Davenport (Norma), Carl Davenport and Marvin Davenport (Karen) and two sisters, Barbara Taylor and Frankie Patterson (Steve) He also had four nieces and two nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville. Pastor Tim Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Mission Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Derek Davenport, Justin Davenport, Ernest Davenport, Gary Conner, John Taylor, Austin Eller and Scott Raxter.

The family will receive friends from 12 pm to 2 pm, Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville.
