Richard "Bud" Ledford, age 86, of Copperhill, TN and formerly of Murphy, NC passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024.
He was born in Cherokee County, NC to the late Frank and Lily Bishop Ledford. Bud worked in the textile industry as a machine mechanic supervisor. He was an avid outdoors person; he loved to hunt, fish and camp. Bud attended New Martins Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Ledford and one sister, Jean Cearley.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Ledford; three daughters, Renee Underwood (Curtis) of Glasgow, KY, Alicia Ledford (Brian) of Blairsville, GA and Julie Queen of Ducktown, TN; one son, Jamie Queen (Jan) of Delano, TN; two brothers, Hoyt Ledford (Blanche) and Steve Ledford (Debbie) all of Murphy; three sisters, Lucille Herrin of Georgia, Ruth Ann Ford, Sue Decker (Jerry) and Charlotte Anderson (Tony) of Andrews, NC; seven grandchildren, Maranda Payne (Scott), Bridget Mull (Chris), Jake Loudermilk (Savannah), Ryan Ledford, Ivy Underwood, Olivia Ledford and Justin Queen (Tonya); two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 am, Friday, June 14, 2024 at the New Martins Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Hoyt Brown and Aud Brown officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jamie Queen, Jake Loudermilk, Chris Mull, Ryan Ledford, Scott Payne and Sean Howard. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 8 pm, Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home in Murphy.
