Obituary for David Remy Hourdequin

David Remy Hourdequin, age 83 of Hayesville, went to be with God on Monday, August 26, 2024. He was under hospice care at his home and then at Murphy Rehab Facility in Peachtree the last two weeks of his life.

David was born on August 10, 1941 in Avondale, PA to Richard and Angela Hourdequin. He is survived by his sister, Pam and brother, Richard, two children, Catherine Weiss married to Bruce and Heath Hourdequin. He has two grandchildren, Evan and Ava Weiss. He loved them all very much.

He attended Florida State University and the University of Florida where he received his Master's Degree in Engineering. He proudly served his country in the Army.

His current marriage to Anne Hourdequin was blessed for 21 years. The duo worked together at D. Remy & Co. in Hayesville doing engineering work right up to his death and loving it.

David was "Grandpa David" to Anne's four grandchildren - Katie and Andrew Evans and Dane and Braxton Joyner. He was influential to Anne's daughters and husbands also - Jen and Jon Evans and Liz and Brandon Joyner and will be greatly missed at all family gatherings.

David was interesting and adventurous. His hobbies/passions included fly fishing, building and learning to fly an experimental airplane, building a sea boat, building telescopes, motorcycling with friends. He was a Ham Radio operator, NS4V, wrote and published two books. He traveled far and wide with family and friends and with his career in engineering. David was always very generous with his time, money and talent.

David and Anne "planted" several Anglican churches in Western NC. Currently they were members of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Hayesville.

David will have no funeral. Donations to Cancer Fund, to Hospice or to Good Shepherd Church will be greatly appreciated.
