Curtis (Curt) Lesley, 70, of Hayesville, NC, passed away unexpectedly in a car accident on October 25, 2024. Also, passing away with Curt was his beloved white German Shepherd, Louie. A dedicated dog lover later in life, Curt had a love of white German Shepherds that he always acquired through rescue.
Curt was born in Niles, MI, on October 11, 1954 to Berneice (Kaiser) and Wilbur Lesley. He attended and graduated from Edwardsburg High School in Edwardsburg, MI. While a youth, like his brothers, he worked at Four Lakes Country Club in Edwardsburg, MI, beginning a lifetime love of golf.
Curt had a long career in the mobile home and conversion van industry centered in Elkhart, IN, including being part owner in Citation Vans. Eventually, longing for better weather and wanting to be close to his parents in their waning years, he moved to Pinellas Park, FL. He worked as a Senior Purchasing agent for L3 Technologies, involved in their airport scanner division. Curt retired from that company after almost 15 years of service.
While living in Florida, Curt made weekly trips to Pine Island, FL, to visit his parents to spend time with and be a support for them. Curt was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Berneice Lesley and his brothers, David Lesley and Robert Lesley. Curt is survived by his sister, Jane Bradley of Granger, IN; and sisters-in-law Pat (Pritchard) Lesley of Granger and Dee Ann (Stickel) Lesley of Wakarusa, IN; and one niece, three nephews and 16 grand-nieces and -nephews.
Curt was a dedicated music lover as well, often listening to the Beatles and other seminal rock music classics. He also loved going to concerts, seeing Billy Joel with other family members and the Rolling Stones as well. Curt followed Notre Dame football and women’s basketball and the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team. Even though Curt still followed and played golf later in life, he could probably be found at the dog park rather than at the golf course.
Curt’s concern and love for his family and his dogs will be deeply missed. Cremation will take place in Hayesville, NC, and Curt’s remains will be relocated to Adamsville Cemetery in Edwardsburg, MI.
Memorial contributions to Alcoholics Anonymous would be welcomed.
