Obituary for Earlene Lois Helton

Earlene Lois Tallent Helton, age 98 of Murphy, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024.

Earlene was born in Akron, Ohio to the late Amos Mckinley and Edith Estelle Sisson Tallent. She grew up in Isabella, Tennessee. Earlene enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, listening to gospel music and hearing the word of God. She also enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Earlene was of the Baptist faith, a member of Ranger Baptist Church and also a longstanding member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1950.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Wendell Helton; her brothers, Mack, Bob and Bill Tallent; her sisters, Kathleen Styles, Marilyn Fowler and infant sister, Carol Tallent; and a granddaughter, April Pascia.

Earlene is survived by her son, Larry Helton (Sandra); her daughters, Karen Gladson (Sonny), Jan Westmoreland (Gary) and Gail Graham; her grandchildren, Todd Gladson, Erica Gladson, Chelsie Picon, Channon Graham, Andrew Westmoreland, Beth Westmoreland and Scott Helton; her great grandchildren, Harlan, Lindy, and Lemuel Gladson, Lakelyn, Jett and Axel Picon, Violet Bergold, Rose Gladson, Mac Barborich, and Hunter Helton, Braylen Helton, Keirstin Westomoreland and Korbin Westmoreland; and great great grandchildren, Harper and Hallie Gladson.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm, Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy with Pastor Derrick Palmer officiating. Burial will be at Sweet Gum Cemetery in Mineral Bluff, Georgia. Pallbearers will be Scott Pascia, Scott Helton, Matt Picon, Todd Gladson, Harlen Gladson and Lemuel Gladson. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Westmoreland, Jett Picon, Korbin Westmoreland, Hunter Helton and Axel Picon.

The family will receive friends from 11am to 1pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gideons International, PO Box 164, Murphy, NC 28906.
