Obituary for Larry Eugene Ledford

03/13/1946 - 12/30/2024

Larry Eugne Ledford, age 78 of Hayesville, NC passed away unexpectedly in a Gainesville, GA on December 30, 2024.He made his journey home, greeted by his Savior, embraced by his mother and father, and reunited with the family and friends who had gone on before. He walked into his new eternal home on the mountains of Glory.

Larry was a native and lifelong resident of Clay, NC and the son the late Cline "Skinny" Ledford and Ruth Leota Ledford. He was a member of the Tusquittee Church of God in which he loved dearly. Larry was a US Army veteran; he served in Germany from 1966-1968.

Larry made many journeys where here below. Journeys to lend a helping hand to someone who needed it, and journeys to provide for and protect his family. And, countless journeys through these Appalachian mountains doing what he's always done since he was a boy. Knowing the land, knowing the mountains and the great resources that God blessed these mountains with. He knew the mountains could sustain life and provide so much more that the average man would know.

If you were blessed to have met him on this journey of life, you knew right away that you had encountered and never esteemed one person above another.

At the heart of all his journeys though, Larry was family man. Protecting and providing for his family was his highest calling. He never wavered from this. He was a shining example of steadfast, selfless, unwavering love.

For those of us left behind, our hearts are broken. But, remember we are all just on our own journey Home. May our journeys produce as much love and generosity as his did.

We will meet you again Larry on the mountains of Glory. We know you will be ready to show us around.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patsy Grave Ledford; one son, Gregory Eugene Ledford; one daughter, Pamela Ann Ledfod all of Hayesville, NC; five sisters, Lois Dyer (Bill), Irene Penland (Teak), Joyce Bryson (Jimmy), Evelyn Parker (Harold) all of Hayesville, NC and Clyde McCoy (Darrell) of Hiawassee, GA; two brothers, Curtis Ledford (Roberta) and William Howard "Speedy" Ledford (Betty) both of Hayesville, NC; and an abundance of nieces and nephews.
