Betty Jean Chance, age 82 of Hayesville, NC passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Clay County, NC and the daughter of the late Conley and Georgia Watkins Teems. Betty was a housekeeper. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers. Betty loved her church group and cared a lot about St. Jude's and the Shriner's Hospitals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ebb Chance; one son, James Edgar Chance; four brothers, Tommy, Harry, Allen and Robert Teems; one sister, Barbara Brumley; and two grandchildren, Jamie and Justin Chance.
She is survived by one son, Julius Chance and wife Kay; two brothers, Donald Teems and wife Faye and Leon Teems and wife Brenda; four grandchildren, Sherry Neal and husband Tony, James Chance and wife Nellie, Tabitha Haney and James Chance and wife Carrie ; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 5 pm, Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville. Rev. Bill Dyer will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 pm - 5 pm, Saturday, July 18, 2020 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations be made to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 1102 17th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37212 or to Oasis Shriners, 604 Doug Mayes Place, Charlotte, NC 28262.
