Millie Chastain Moyer, 85, of Decatur, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 09, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Rosezell Harris Chastain. Millie had worked as a waitress for a long while after leaving Murphy. She had drove dirt track in the Powder Puff Division. Millie loved to read her Bible.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Moyer; a brother, Harvey Chastain; two sisters, Lillie Mae Graves and Elizabeth Wallace.
Surviving is her son, Michael Barrett, Sr and wife, Angela Marie; two brothers, Johnny Chastain and Mitchell Chastain; three sisters, Nancy Woodard, Beverly Chastain, and Regina Swanson; grandchildren, Michael, Jr, Daniel, Savannah, September, Samantha, Melvin, Mary Jane, Liberty, Alonzo, and David; and three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Flaxs Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Niece Gail Tinney and husband Jerry, Niece Cindy Johnson, Great nephew, Andrew Johnson, Rick Carlson, and Nephew David Brown.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening August 13, 2022 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home, Murphy.
