Harold Lee Thompson, age 85, went to his Heavenly home surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 31, 2023.
Harold (fondly known as "Papaw" and "Harold Lee" by family and friends) was born November 11, 1937, in Mt.Gilead, NC, to the late Jesse Thompson and Ruby Smith Thompson. He is predeceased by his wife, Betty Culp Thompson and step grandson, Jason Riley.
Harold is survived by his only child, Dr. Kimberly Thompson Riley (husband Dr. Lonnie Riley) of Murphy, NC; brothers Larry Thompson (wife Ellen) and Quinton Thompson (wife Carolyn) both of Mt. Gilead. And one sister Renee Blake (husband Mickey) of Mt.Gilead, NC; grandson Randall Riley of Kansas City, Kansas; Step grandson Joshua (wife Allison) of Greenville, SC; a great granddaughter Kiara Riley of Kansas City, Kansas, 3 step great grandchildren Callan Riley of Leisceter, NC, Claire and Thomas Riley of Greenville, SC.
A memorial for the celebration of his life will be held at Stoney Fork Baptist Church, Mt. Gilead, NC, on November 18, 2023 at 4:00pm. The Reverend Dwight Mabry will preside.
The family will receive friends at 3:00 pm. There will be a time of food and fellowship after the service in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers the family asks to send memorials in Harold's honor to Stoney Fork Baptist Church, P.O. Box 463, Mt. Gilead, NC 27306.
