Obituary for Lucille Raxter

Lucille Hogan Raxter, age 92 of Andrews, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2024.

Lucille was born in Clay County to the late Virgil Hogan and Laura Piercy Hogan. She was a member at Grace Fellowship Baptist Church in Andrews. She had worked as a seamstress at Lees and along with her husband owned Raxter’s Midnight Gas station. After retirement she worked for the United States Forrest Service Older American program. Lucille was passionate about being an avid rock hunter hound and enjoyed being a member of a local rock club. Additionally, she loved running a weed eater, being outdoors and taking care of her flowers.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Jack H. Raxter; a son Gary Raxter; her brothers, Dick, Bill, Clyde, Hubbard, and Virgil Hogan Jr.; and her sisters, Francis Moss and Kate Watkins.

She is survived by her son, Steve Raxter (Cindy); her daughter Sandra Queen (Ronnie); her grandchildren, Natasha Queen (Brian), Todd Queen (Chandra), Nick Queen (Adrian), Rhonda Stillwell (Mathew), Ginger Lietner ( Jared), Kurtis Raxter, Derek Raxter (Allison), Wendy Reese (Jason), Amber Jacobs (Jeremiah), and Kaylee Cooper (Jennings); her greatgrandchildren, Lauren, Jocelyn and Kaylen Reese, Dalton Land, Alexis Burns (Johnathan), Brawley Stillwell, Eli Carver, Skylar and Aiden Gass, Stone and Riley Queen, Stella Jacobs, Lynnon Raxter and Zayland Messer; and special nieces, Patsy Stuart and Martha Harper.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, September 6, 2024, at Townson- Rose Chapel of Andrews with Pastor Chuck Davis officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Nick Queen, Todd Queen, Derek Raxter, Kurtis Raxter, Brawley Stillwell, and Jeremiah Jacobs.

The family will receive friends from 12pm – 2pm Friday, September 6, 2024 at Townson Rose Chapel of Andrews NC.
