Obituary for Dorothy Ann Vaughn

Dorothy “Dot” Ann Vaughn, 87, of Andrews went home to be with the Lord on September 10, 2024.

Dot moved to Andrews with her husband and children in 1972 and opened the Granny Squirrel Trading Post and Campground. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. Dot was a dedicated homemaker; she devoted her life to nurturing her family and creating a loving home. Dot welcomed everyone with open arms and a warm smile. She had a passion for staying busy, many people remember seeing her work in her yard. Dot found joy in being outside and connecting with nature. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering support were the cornerstone of her family’s happiness. Dot was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many. Her legacy of love and devotion will be cherished by all who knew her.

She was the daughter of the late Wayne Clinton Ripple and Josephine Elizabeth Gifford Ripple. She was married to her loving husband, James “Jim” Vaughn for 58 years until his passing in 2014.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers Homer Clinton Ripple and Harry “Jim” Ripple, as well as her sister Betty Jane Goyer.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Vaughn of Andrews; her daughter, Betty Ellen Vaughn (Scott Newton) of Andrews; her brother Joseph Ripple and wife, Becky of Hollywood Florida; four granddaughters, Catrina Buchanan and husband Chevron of Robbinsville, Sabrina Vaughn of Robbinsville, Anna Stewart and husband Jonathan of Robbinsville, and Kena Grindstaff of Andrews; and seven great grandchildren, Khaygan and Abel Buchanan, Raven and Phoenix Graham, and Dottie, Maddox, and Rory Stewart all of Robbinsville.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews. The family will receive friends from 11am-12pm at the Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews with services beginning at 12pm.
