Ruth Hembree Pendergrass, age 76 of Andrews passed away September 26, 2024.
She was a lifetime resident of Western North Carolina and the daughter of the late Frank W. and Lula Bryant Hembree. As a young woman she worked as a sewing machine operator and raised two beautiful daughters whom she adored. She was a wonderful homemaker and caregiver to many who crossed her path and needed a "helping hand". Ruth enjoyed her family and was a loving mother and grandmother and had a sweet disposition.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Pendergrass; one daughter, Veronica Pendergrass: three brothers Delano Hembree, John H. Hembree and Frank W. Hembree, Jr. and one sister Julia Sue Pendergrass.
She is survived by one daughter, Monica Farley and her husband Danny of Robbinsville, two brothers, Ernie D, Hembree of Andrews and Ronnie Hembree and wife of MacClenny, Florida; a sister Lavada Taylor of Bryson City, NC; one granddaughter, Sydney Farley and several nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
