Judy Marie Colbert, age 77, a native of Murphy, NC and loving mother of four passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home amid family and friends on the morning of January 10, 2025.
Judy was inspirational, kind, loving, funny, full of joy, and a ball of fire that showed us what can be accomplished with determination and persistence. She was a pioneer in the community leading the way to helping others by hosting benefits and providing support for those in need. She was one of the first thirteen African American children to integrate into Cherokee County Public School System, a part of the Magnificent Seven, an Usher at Mt. Zion Baptist Church and honored for her contributions by One Dozen Who Cares. She lived her life to the fullest, helping others despite her many challenges.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry F. Colbert, parents, mother, and ten siblings.
As we remember Judy’s impact on our lives, let us also acknowledge the beautiful family left behind who will carry on her legacy; four daughters, nine siblings, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 18, 2025 in the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Paul Webb officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Saturday, January 18 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
