Geneva Mary Payne Gibby, age 89 of Andrews, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Geneva was born in Murphy to the late Fred and Julia Stiles Payne. She had worked in the textile manufacturing industry. Geneva loved taking care of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great granddaughter. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and cooking, especially chicken and sweets. Geneva was a member of Junaluska Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Gibby; her son, Teddy Gibby; a daughter, Pat Gibson; her brothers, Jack, Ralph and Larry Payne; and her sisters, Lois Payne and Vergie Rowland.
Geneva is survived by a daughter, Pamela Lequire (Dale); her sisters, Betty Wilson and Linda Rowland; her grandchildren, Josh Chastain (Celica), Lisa Grubb (Paul), Kayla Lopp (Daniel), Tiffany Cooke (Steven) and Justin LeQuire (Faith); her great grandchildren, Lily (Alex), Cricket, Huxley, Melanie-Cambria, Kaiden, Maverick, Maddox, Myles, Madi Kate, Aiden, Liam, Adley and Everly; and a great great granddaughter, Marisol.
A funeral service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews with Tully Griggs officiating. Burial will be in Moss Cemetery in Marble. Pallbearers will be Justin LeQuire, Danny Chastain, Josh Chastain, Steven Cooke, Daniel Lopp and Alex Cruz.
The family will receive friends from 12pm to 1pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at Townson-Rose Chapel in Andrews.
