Cecil Charles Allen, age 83 of Murphy, NC passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC and the son of the late Charles and Lillie Bell Allen. Cecil was a US Army veteran; he served from 1960 to 1967. He was an underground miner for the Tennessee Chemical Company. Cecil was a member of the Montgomery Lodge #426 and was a previous Master Mason. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Guion, Verlon, Roy, Brance and Marvin Allen; and three sisters, Lorena Hickey, Irene Forrister and Carolyn Allen.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Gladson Allen; two sons, Darrell Allen and wife Debbie and Daniel Allen and wife Marcia both of Murphy; four grandchildren: Matthew, Chris, Cody and Caleb; three great grandchildren: Adriana, Ezra and Elijah; and special family friend, Selina Jones.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy. Rev. Gerald Derreberry and Rev. Calvin Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in the Elrod Cemetery with military honor rites being conducted by the American Legion Post #96 Murphy, American Legion Post #532 Hayesville, VFW Post# #6812, Hayesville, NC, the Marine Corp League Marble, NC and the Vietnam Veterans of America and graveside rites being conducted by the Montgomery Lodge # 426.
Pallbearers will be Matthew, Chris, Cody and Caleb Allen, Matthew Gallman and Dalton Campbell.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm – 3 pm, Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
