James Kenneth Rogers, 84 of Murphy, NC passed away Monday, February 22, 2021.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, NC and the son of the late Harley and Lola Welch Rogers. James enjoyed outside activities and working with wood. He was a member and deacon at Notla Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles Rogers; and one daughter, Brenda Hughes.
He is survived by his wife, Murrial Rogers; one daughter, Vivian Johnson and husband Chris of Murphy; two brothers, Gary Welch and Bobby Welch both of Marble; two grandchildren, Holly Ellington and Josh Hughes; and four great grandchildren, Stella, Jovie, Mila Kate and Hoke Ellington.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm, Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Morrow and Rev. Hoyt Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Bellview Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeff Roberson, Chris Johnson, Doug Radford, Bobby, Matt Ellington, James Johnson, Kenny Hughes and Brian Keasler.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm, Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
