Pauline (Polly) Cook, age 93 of Marble, NC passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023.
She was born in Aquone, NC, but lived most of her life in Cherokee Co., NC. She was the daughter of the late Arch & Hannah Lovingood Gibby. She worked at American Thread for many years and had previously worked at Marble Elementary School in her early years. She was a lifelong member of Marble Springs Baptist Church where she was previously very active in the Sunbeam's, GA's, Acteens, VBS and Children's Sunday School classes for many years. She was a member of the Marble Chapter of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed painting, watching birds at her pond and going on trips & outings with family and friends. Dear to her heart was her Sunday School class of many years, the "Circle of Friends".
Preceded in death by her husband, Donald Cook of 65 years, and one daughter, Linda Cook Carter; two sisters, Lillie Mae Taylor and Edna Beulah Hawks; three brothers, Teddy Earl Gibby, Lonnie Allen Gibby and William Sheridan Gibby; two infant brothers, Dillard Gibby and Paul Gibby.
She is survived by one son John Cook (Pam); three daughters, Donna Brown, Freda Dockery and Annette Burch; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Marble Springs Baptist Church with Eulogy given by her son, John Cook, and Rev. Lloyd Fish will be officiating. The interment will be at Moss Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the Marble Springs Baptist Church prior to the services.
